RESEARCH TO BOOST AUSSIE AGRICULTURE

Queensland farmers will benefit from world-leading research to improve crop resilience and yield thanks to the Morrison Government providing $35 million to establish a research centre that focuses on plant adaptation and resilience.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Plant Success in Nature and Agriculture will be based at The University of Queensland.

It will deepen our knowledge of the genetic traits of plants, allowing producers to improve breeding quality.

Australia’s farmers produce nutritious and sustainable products to domestic consumers and to the world, and now it is hoped the knowledge gained through the ARC will also be exported.

By learning what plants thrive in certain conditions, it is hoped farmers can better plan their crops and increase yields.
