ALBANESE LIE COUNTER NOW AT 56 LIES IN JUST 21 DAYS

In the last election campaign, Anthony Albanese promised 97 times that power bills would fall by $275.

That was the start of the lies, and they have kept coming at more than two per day so far this election campaign.

Whether its the details of The Voice, power prices or Chinese warships near Australia, the Prime Minister struggles to be trtuthful with Australians.

Here are just some examples in this campaign:

Lie: Albanese claimed that the negative gearing changes “wasn’t commissioned by us”.
Truth: Treasurer Jim Chalmers concedes he asked Treasury for negative gearing modelling

Lie: Albanese claimed that unemployment is lower.
Truth: Unemployment is higher than when Labor came to office and the number of Australians on income support has increased by over 107,000.

Lie: Albanese claimed that defence spending had increased under his Government
Truth: In their very first year in Government, defence as a share of the economy declined

Lie: Albanese claimed that “the entire time in which your last term, there were no discussions” between China and the last Coalition Government
Truth: There was extensive engagement between the former Coalition Government and China, as outlined on the DFAT website.

Lie: Albanese claimed that “I don’t broadcast the private discussions” when questioned on international diplomacy.
Truth: Albanese has previously detailed his private discussions with world leaders.

Lie: At a press conference in Prospect, SA, Albanese claimed that he “got the pandas back here in Adelaide.”
Truth: The Coalition brought the pandas to Adelaide in 2007, they never left.

Lie: At a press conference in Prospect, SA, Albanese claimed that the Coalition cut education funding when last in Government.
Truth: The previous Coalition Government increased funds to public schools year-on-year.

Lie: At a press conference in Prospect, SA, Albanese claimed that Peter Dutton would cut health like he cut health in 2014.
Truth: The Coalition nearly doubled hospital funding, from $13.3 billion (in 2012-13) to $24.7 billion (in 2021-22).2 When Peter Dutton was Health Minister, funding increased by 16% in two years.

Lie: At the Labor campaign launch in Perth, Albanese claimed that “Our top-up tax cuts put an average of $2,500 back in people’s pockets.”
Truth: Albanese’s ‘top-up’ tax cuts actually only put 70c/day into people’s pockets – $536 a year.

Lie: At the Labor campaign launch in Perth, Albanese claimed Australia is facing, “the worst global ination since the 1980s.”
Truth: The RBA Governor said inflation is home-grown.

Lie: At the Labor campaign launch in Perth, Albanese claimed that cuts had “pushed schools and aged care and Medicare and the NDIS to breaking point.”
Truth: Medicare is weaker under this Government proven by the fact that the medicare bulk billing rate for GPs has dropped 11% in three years.

Lie: At the Labor campaign launch in Perth, Albanese claimed that “Mums and Dads able to take their child to see a doctor, close to home, with just their Medicare card.
Truth: A punter at the Leaders Debate shared her experience that, “bulk billing doesn’t cover the full charge so I have to pay $70 or $80”.

Lie: At the Labor campaign launch in Perth, Albanese claimed that “Real wages have grown, ve quarters in a row.”
Truth: Real disposable income has fallen 7.9 per cent per capita since the election.

Lie: Albanese claimed that in his ministry there were “no scandals, no resignationsâ€Ķpeople in the same job”.
Truth: Albanese fired Andrew Giles and Clare O’Neill after their NZYQ detainee scandal, changing their
jobs.

Lie: Albanese claimed the Samuel Review recommended an Environmental Protection Agency.
Truth: The Samuel Review recommended against an unelected independent body making decisions.
(12 April)

Lie: Albanese again claimed the Coalition froze the Medicare rebate indexation.
Truth: Labor started the medicare rebate indexation freeze, the Coalition ended it.

Lie: Albanese again claimed that his Government was the “first in the world to respond to Trump’s Tariffs”.
Truth: The Prime Minister of Sweden was the first to respond.
(10 April)

Lie: Albanese again claimed that he introduced the ‘gas trigger’.
Truth: The Coalition introduced the ADGSM in 2017.
(10 April)

Lie: Albanese said it was “not true” that his Government had spent more than other Governments since Whitlam’s.
Truth: Labor are the biggest spending first term government since Gough Whitlam.

Lie: Albanese claimed that his government “Taking 20 per cent of student debt will be permanent.”
Truth: The 20 per cent HECS discount is a one-off cut from the Government, not a permanent discount.

Lie: Albanese claimed his Special Envoy for Northern Australia was in discussions with Landbridge about the takeover of the Port of Darwin.
Truth: Landbridge and the Darwin Port say they have not been involved in any discussions on the matter.
(7 April)

Lie: Albanese claimed he had been working on the Port of Darwin sale “for some time”.
Truth: Landbridge put out a public statement announcing their surprise about his statement.

Lie: Albanese claimed he didn’t fall off the stage.
Truth: Albanese fell off the stage. On camera.

Lie: Albanese claimed the ADF was monitoring a Chinese spy ship.
Truth: The Australian Border Force was monitoring the ship.
(31 March)

Lie: Albanese distanced himself from his $275 power bill cut promise, claiming it wasn’t his modelling.
Truth: Albanese’s Powering Australia plan – modelled by RepuTex – promised to cut electricity prices by $275.
