COALITION: GAS RESERVATION A TEST FOR LABOR TO PROVE THEY ARE PRO-AUSTRALIA
Australian gas should work for Australian families and businesses.
Today, as Labor introduces its gas reservation legislation, numerous questions remain about the viability and design of the scheme. The number one focus needs to be more Australian gas, for Australians, and for our export partners.
Reserving gas on paper is one thing. Ensuring we have the supply, investment, and infrastructure to deliver affordable, reliable energy to Australians when and where they need it, is another.
Investment today means energy security tomorrow. The Labor Government must prove that they will deliver policies that encourage new gas supply, give investors confidence and keep Australian industry competitive.
The greatest risk to the passage of this legislation, and the future of our energy security, is the capitulation of Labor to pressure from the Greens political party and noisy activists.
Anti-gas activists are no more than economic vandals, and should not be given a voice in dictating energy policy.
It is now up to Labor to choose whether to work constructively with the Coalition, for the best interests of Australia, or kowtow to the Greens and their anti-gas, anti-Australian ideology.
What remains clear is that only the Coalition has the strong leadership, strong team, and strong plan to deliver cheaper power, fix the economy and protect our way of life.
