REAPPOINTMENT TO SHADOW CABINET

I am pleased to have been reappointed to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Minister for Resources and Shadow Minister for Northern Australia by the Leader of the Opposition, Angus Taylor, and Leader of the Nationals David Littleproud.

Australia’s resources sector is the engine room of the Australian economy, delivering jobs, prosperity, and generating income across Australia.

It is the single-greatest income generator for Australia, and our single-greatest export, allowing us to build and power the world and fund much of our country’s budget programs.

Unfortunately, thanks to Labor’s high-taxing, anti-productivity agenda, this great strength is under threat.

It is imperative that we continue to fight for our regional resources communities, the well-paid jobs and community support this sector provides.

Northern Australia remains the forefront of future growth and prosperity in Australia, and our vital northern border.

The North remains a vast, underutilised region of agriculture, mining, economic development and tourism.

Investing in Northern Australia is an investment in the future of Australia – careful planning and considered foresight will remain key to unlocking the wealth of the North.

I also congratulate my colleague Jamie Chaffey MP on his return as Shadow Assistant Minister for Resources, and look forward to continuing our work together.
