WAR ON GAS CONTINUES TO HURT AUSTRALIA
WAR ON GAS CONTINUES TO HURT AUSTRALIA
- Yet another warning from industry about Australiaâs failure to develop gas sector
- Laborâs war on gas hurts all Australians and businesses battling high costs
- Coalition has practical strategy to make Australia a world-leading gas supplier
Shadow Minister for Resources, Senator Susan McDonald has warned the Labor Government it must end its war on gas after yet more complaints by industry about Australiaâs under-utilised reserves.
âConocoPhillips is the latest to sound alarm bells about the lack of new gas development in Australia but the Government continues to ignore repeated warnings about its shambolic and hostile approach to energy resources investment,â she said.
âAustralia has abundant gas, it has the expertise, it has supply-chain stability and the geographical location to be a provider of choice to major customers but companies are choosing to invest elsewhere.
âAlarm bells should be deafening in Canberra but the current Government prefers to listen to activists rather than sensible industry voices pointing out a raft of lost opportunities.
âLaborâs wrong priorities are already costing Australians billions in royalties and taxes, what more will it take for the Prime Minister to see common sense?
âA Coalition Government will bring more gas online by issuing more exploration permits, releasing more offshore acreage, and providing the legislative and regulatory framework to encourage companies to invest in Australian jobs and prosperity.
âAustralian homes and businesses need access to cheap, reliable energy as they battle soaring costs. Labor claims to be a friend of business and of onshore manufacturing but this is impossible while at the same time they wage war on gas.â
